At Howdy Homemade Ice Cream, we’re about so much more than serving amazing ice cream—we’re creating a place where everyone belongs. Opening in early 2025 in the Chapel Ridge Shopping Center, Howdy Homemade KC will be one of the first businesses in Kansas City dedicated to creating job opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
When you walk through our doors you’ll be greeted with big smiles, delicious ice cream, and a team of passionate Heroes, redefining what it means to thrive in the workforce.

At TNC Community it has always been our mission to champion equity and inclusion for individuals with disabilities, inspiring lives of dignity, belonging, and joy. For more than 75 years, we’ve provided a wide range of services, from residential care to employment opportunities, that empower individuals with IDD to thrive.
Now, through our partnership with Howdy Homemade Ice Cream, we’re taking this mission to the next level. Together, we’re creating meaningful jobs for individuals with IDD—offering equitable pay, career growth, and a supportive environment that allows them to shine. This isn’t just about ice cream; it’s about creating a brighter, more inclusive Kansas City, where everyone has the opportunity to contribute their unique talents.

- Ice Cream Shop Build-Out: Transforming our Lee’s Summit space into a vibrant and functional shop.
- Essential Equipment: Walk-in freezers, commercial ice cream mixers, dipping wells, and more.
- Signage & Technology: Creating an inviting atmosphere with branded signage, décor, and easy-to-function point-of-sale systems.
- Catering Services: An ice cream cart and trailer for events, bringing joy and inclusion to even more people.
